SSL abbreviation stands for Secure Sockets Layer. This is a global standard security, sometimes also called as digital certificates are used to establish a secure connection, which is encrypted, between a web browser (client) and a web server (host). The sensitive data such as credit card details, usernames, passwords, emails etc are protected by SSL connection from being stolen or message forgery, eavesdropping by hackers. Additionally SSL establishes a secure connection between two intended parties for conversation. Certificate Authorities issue SSL Certificates. WEB-FEB establishes a secure connection installing SSL certificates to protect your website from being hacked. We use strong 2048 bit SSL secure sockets layer with TLS encryption and other value-added features.
Once SSL is installed on your web server, a padlock is triggered displaying a green address bar in the address bar. Also once SSL is installed the URL changes from HTTP:// to https://. This allows a secure connection between a web server and a web browser. Most of the E-commerce websites, government, law-based and corporate websites transferring sensitive data use SSL certificates to allow their customers/clients to trust in them.
Choosing the right SSL certificate:
The SSL certificates vary based on the numbers of domains or sub-domains. They are as such:
Single: This is used to secure fully qualified one domain or subdomain.
Wildcard: This is used to secure one domain and an unlimited number of its subdomains.
Multi-Domain: This is used to secure multiple domains.
WEB-FEB Program offers the complete range of SSL certificates to ensure your website is protected.
The levels of Validation are as follows:
Domain Validation (DV): This is ideal for establishing a secure connection with personal sites and blogs. This level validation is the cheapest among all. It covers basic encryption and domain ownership verification.
Organization Validation (OV): This is ideal for securing websites which incorporate membership and dynamic websites. In addition to basic encryption as that of domain validation, it also encrypts user data such as username and contact information.
Extended Validation (EV): This is the highest level of validation and is ideal for portals involving membership, online payments involving credit cards and government organizations. This is indicated by the green bar on the address bar.
